Hull Blasting & Antifouling Removal
Over time, layers of antifouling or paint can build up on your hull, trapping water and contaminants against the surface. This not only affects performance but can also increase the risk of osmosis or corrosion. At Costa Blanca Yacht Services, we use professional blasting techniques to restore your hull safely and effectively.

Aluminium Silicate Blasting – Our Most Common Method
For GRP boats, aluminium silicate blasting is the go-to method for stripping old antifouling back to the original gel coat. It’s fast, efficient, and cost-effective, leaving a clean, smooth surface that’s ideal for fresh coatings such as Coppercoat or traditional antifoul.
For steel boats, aluminium silicate is also highly effective, as it removes oxidation and rust without damaging sound steel. This allows for thorough inspection and essential repairs, ensuring the long-term health of your hull.

Soda Blasting – A Gentler Option
For delicate jobs, we also offer sodium bicarbonate blasting (soda blasting). This is a much gentler process, designed to remove paint without leaving marks on the underlying surface. It’s particularly useful where precision and care are required.

Why Blasting Matters
-
Removes years of paint and antifouling build-up
-
Allows proper inspection of GRP or steel hulls
-
Prepares surfaces for Coppercoat, epoxy primers, or antifoul
-
Improves efficiency — a smooth hull means faster cruising with less fuel

Better for Your Boat & the Environment
A clean hull doesn’t just protect your investment — it reduces drag, saving you money on fuel and helping your yacht move more efficiently through the water. That’s good for both your wallet and the environment.
